cash on the nail主要在英国使用。过去在英国，卖布商会在柜台边上按一定距离钉上铁钉，作为丈量布料的固定尺码。买布的时候，顾客必须先将钱放在柜台上（cash on the nail），布商再把裁下来的布给他。

每人多少钱？

（×）How much is one person?

“一个人值多少钱？”听起来好像在买卖人口，我们又不是奴隶！外国人听到一定非常吃惊。

使用is it 加per person是本句的重要技巧，表示“每人份、每人应负担的部分”，可以直接把这样的用法记起来。

想更简单地说的话，你可以直接问：“一个……是多少钱？”例如，How much is one ticket?一张票是多少钱？

入场券多少钱？

（×）How much does the entrance fee cost?
