《斐多篇Phaedo》（英文版）作者：柏拉图Plato
《斐多》描绘苏格拉底（Socrates）服刑当日，在雅典（Athens）监狱里与其门徒就正义与生死不朽的问题进行讨论。因为信念选择死亡、安于死，这是历史上第一宗，其对西方文化影响之远没有其它书可以相比。
文章主要通过苏格拉底与他的两个朋友证明了灵魂不朽这一命题。文章有很强的文学性，是柏拉图最为优美的作品之一。从苏格拉底面对死亡的从容也可以看出他对死亡的理解是超出常人的，也让我们渴望知道他怎样才能达到这样的一种对死亡的达观的境界。

generouslyhesorrowsforme.Butwemustdoashesays,Crito;letthe
cupbebrought,ifthepoisonisprepared:ifnot,lettheattendant
preparesome.
Yet,saidCrito,thesunisstilluponthehilltops,andmanyaonehas
takenthedraughtlate,andaftertheannouncementhasbeenmadetohim,
hehaseatenanddrunk,andindulgedinsensualdelights;donothasten
then,thereisstilltime.
Socratessaid:Yes,Crito,andtheyofwhomyouspeakarerightindoing
thus,fortheythinkthattheywillgainbythedelay;butIamrightin
notdoingthus,forIdonotthinkthatIshouldgainanythingby
drinkingthepoisonalittlelater;Ishouldbesparingandsavinga
lifewhichisalreadygone:Icouldonlylaughatmyselfforthis.
